Presenting
Ditch the Effort

*

jeans has been cancelled. athleisure rules the wfh scene. and no matter how hard celebs and brands try to push the back-to-normal narrative, truth is – the youth has become way too comfortable in not making an effort. in not dressing up. in being their slacker selves.

*speculative campaign

I slip in and out of my pajamas.

Bite my nails. And do up ponytails.

Stare into screens big and small.

Giggle with faceless black squares.

Paint slurs on my pockets.

Stitch flags on the backs of my jackets.

Dress up. For my three cats.

Keep an eye on my social stats.

My wardrobe is a parade

of elastic, spandex and flip flops.

A blanket tent is my office cubicle.

My amoeba self — my power suit.

I slip in and out of my life.

Walk on. In search of nothing.

Unsure. Undaunted. Unbothered.

A quiet fury. Not pretty. Not bright.

A hot mess. No intention to be right.

I’m proud of my odds.

My chaos — my comfort zone.

I could try. But why?

Too tired of playing nice.

Too broke to pay the price.

My drip don’t need no effort.

So, don’t you tell me otherwise.
